About Paris El-Said

My passion about films makes me demonstrate my technical flair and interest in Directing. I have graduated Frederick University with distinction in the Audio Visual Communications course and also graduated the University of Wolverhamptonwith a First Degree in Film and Video Production. Both gave me a strong practical and conceptual understanding of filmmaking.

Screening my projects to the public gave me the confidence I needed to develop this wonderful skill. in 2011 I was awarded with the MDTi Award for Excellence in Video Production. My experiences include Directing, Editing and Cinematography. I have worked with companies in Cyprus and Greece such as Green Olive Films and Nikanor Ltd to name but a few. As an ambitious individual, I want to learn and develop under the guidance of those who are the top of their field and then use those skills to become an expert myself. Furthermore, I have been a volunteer for productions in the UK and Cyprus, representative in the UNESCO and the Red Cross youth seminars, traveled with the Doctors of the World to help people in Palestine and served the Cypriot Army. Cyprus is a developing country with great potential for growth in the digital technology sectors.

To serve the need of this industry, my desire is to deepen my understanding and experience through a Master’s degree. The breadth of my work experience and my undergraduate success proves that I am a hard working and enthusiastic person who thoroughly enjoys a challenge and it’s responsibilities. I am a self-starter who is highly adaptable and who also thrives in a teamwork environment. My motivation for postgraduate study comes from my thirst for knowledge; desire to contribute to society and to fulfill my objective, to become a successful Filmmaker. I find the University excellent as they use state of the art equipment and they have well known media professionals on faculty. BU’s excellence of the program together with my abilities and motivation will enable me to achieve my goals, gain more experience and handle even more complex visual problems with far more understanding of the rapidly changing world we live in.

Education: What I Learned

Getting feelings from people isn’t easy, especially when you’ve got a camera in their face! Through the process of this short documentary, I found out that you have to keep asking questions to the interviewees in order to get under their skin. It’s not an easy thing trying to get what you want from them but it’s sure worth trying.
